Many people in the village have volunteered to offer help and support.
Please do not hesitate to ask.

If you are able to offer help and have not yet put your name on the volunteer list please contact us. If you know someone who may benefit from assistance please encourage them to get in touch. You can also find out more on the Wyre Piddle Community Face book page if you have access.

It is imperative that we all contribute to minimizing the spread of this highly contagious virus by following all government advice. Those who have been advised to self isolate and anyone with symptoms should not go out to get supplies. Sadly we must all maintain social distancing. A sad and worrying time for all. Thank you for the good will and spirit of everyone in the village.

Get Involved with Police Budget

As the Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion, begins to set the budget for the next financial year, he wants to hear questions from the public, to put the Chief Constable.
How would you like to see your money spent? How would you like to see resources prioritised? What would you do differently?

Budget and resources will be the focus of the next live question and answer session taking place on Monday 20th January 2020 from 7pm, streamed live on the PCC’s facebook page (@WestMerciaPCC). There will be opportunity to submit questions in advance, or live during the broadcast. The Commissioner and his Deputy Tracey Onslow will put the questions to West Mercia Police Chief Constable Anthony Bangham, and new Deputy Chief Constable Julian Moss.

Commissioner John Campion said “It’s important that tax payers have a say in how their money is spent, and that resources are used wisely on the issues that matter the most. In previous years the public have helped to shape decisions leading to an uplift in officer numbers making the police more visible and accessible. This is an opportunity to have your say at the highest level, in the most open and transparent way.”

Questions can be submitted in advance via a Facebook comment or private message, or via email to ">

Up to £20,000 worth of grants are now on offer to schools, charities and community organisations to help support disadvantaged children and their families.
The Social Mobility Grant Scheme is aimed at Free School Meal (FSM) eligible children to provide positive activities and wraparound care services, as well as projects to improve pupil confidence and mental wellbeing.

Grants between £250 and £1,000 are available and successful applicants must ensure that the projects do not stigmatise or isolate individuals or groups of children or students.

According to the ‘State of the Nation 2017: Social Mobility in Great Britain’ (1), Wychavon was ranked fifth worst for early years social mobility. To address this, the scheme was launched to help early year settings find new ways to help their hard-pressed families and children.
Cllr Christopher Day, Portfolio Holder for Housing, Health and Wellbeing at Wychavon District Council, said: “The Social Mobility Grant Scheme is a great opportunity to help improve outcomes for FSM eligible children and their families, as well as close the gap between the most disadvantaged children and their peers. We are encouraging schools, early years settings, community organisations and others to apply.”

Advice on Rural Crime Prevention

Rural Crime Prevention

Machinery Theft
• Where possible, vehicles should be housed in a lockable garage or building, ideally with security lighting installed to the perimeter.
• Vehicles should always be locked when not in use, with the keys kept hidden and locked away in a secure location.
• Keep recordings or photographs of serial numbers and vehicles as these can be crucial in recovery, should the worse happen.
• Securing Quadbikes to a fixed point on the ground or something that takes time to remove will also act as a deterrent.
• Never leave the keys in the ignition.
• Keep gates to yards closed as open gates can be an open invitation to thieves.
• Install immobilisers, chip keys and trackers as these are a simple way to deter criminals or track vehicles.
• Install CCTV
